Windsurfing: Overcombe Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 35-45knts Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Drove down to weymouth straigtht after 12 hr night shift, got there at
7.30am dead on high tide. The wind was hovering bout 40 knts but the shore
break was very big (over head high), so it was impossible to get on so
thought i'd grab 40 winks, got comfy in the back of the van but didn't wake
up till 10.30!
The place was now packed, vans everywhere. the shore break had died alot &
local sailer was out,Excellent.
Took me a while to wake up but i was happy to watch for a while whilst most
rigged 4.2ish. I opted for my 3.8m & when i'd finished rigging a van pulled
in with some sailers who i know from wsm which was good.
When i went to get on it looked like most people were having trouble
getting plannling? i nearly changed up to 4.2 but it still looked mega
windy.I got on sheeted in & Thats why they were'nt planning too much power,
it was hard to get the power down through the mast & into the board, glad i
had the 3.8 up.
Once i got tunned onto the condtions it was excellent
slighty cross on with head high waves, once you got out a bit it was really
windy,way over powered on a 3.8!
Jumping was good but hard to try to ride waves as just so much power in the
rig.after a while got off for a rest, whist i sat watching numerous people
doing back loops etc the wind swung offshore, quick get back on, the wind
hadnt dropped at all but wave riding was now excellent, even i managed 3
bottom & top turns on 3 waves in row Excellent.
The wind swung back on shore again & the waves died down so after nearly
4hrs i called it a day.
Thanks to the guys from wsm, it took 4 of us to split my mast! glad they
were there.
What an excellent day ,not much rain & the sun even shone for a couple of
hours with f8 :)
